Born in Warsaw in 1955, Paolo is an Italian citizen living and working in Rome. He is a cultural manager, researcher of European and Polish history and culture as well as an essayist. He is the chairman of the Janina Umiastowska Foundation in Rome. For 25 years he has worked at the RAI-Radiotelevisione Italiana, where he held various managerial positions. For many years, he has been organizing cultural initiatives and events, being involved in editorial projects including the online blog poli-logo. Dialoghi plurali a Est and the historical-cultural magazine poloniaeuropae. He co-founded pl.it, the Italian annual on Polish themes, and is a member of the editorial board of Limes.
